Nautical Fantasy is a sub-genre of fantasy set on or near the sea, with the fantasy elements ranging from mild to extreme. Media in this genre often mainly revolve around seafaring as sailors or pirates. Nautical Fantasy media is often categorized as historical fiction as well.

While Oceanpunk and Nautical Fantasy are similar - and you could consider Oceanpunk to fall under the umbrella of Nautical Fantasy - the main difference between the two is that Oceanpunk is specifically sci-fi and an often apocalyptic and/or post-apocalyptic sub-genre centred around humanity's relationship with the sea, whereas Nautical Fantasy is a fantasy sub-genre with the main setting being the sea or the main story taking place on or near the sea.
